The Colchester Historical Society obtains financial
support from public and private sources. The Community Museum
Assistance Program
from the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage, is a
large contributor. The grant supports nearly 40% of our operating
costs.
Additional
grants have been received from local municipal governments and from
various public programs for specific purposes.
Private donations
through our annual appeal for funds have become important for our
operating budget. In addition, there are interest revenues from the
Memorial Trust Fund and revenues from museum and archival services. To
all of this we still must conduct several fund raising projects during
each year.
October-November is Our Annual Financial Appeal Time October has
become our special time to seek financial assistance from members and
the several friends and corporate organizations with an interest in
heritage.
It is planned that special letters will be sent out in mid-October.
Last
year this effort raised in excess of $13,000.00 which was vital to our operating
needs. Please remember us in your charitable donation plan for this year.
Fundraising projects during the 2008 - 2009 year have included the following:

The Colchester Historical Society Memorial Trust Fund
receives bequests, special gifts and a portion of the life membership
fees. These funds are invested and only the interest from the
investments are contributed to the operating budget.
Anyone interested in donating to the memorial trust fund or preparing a planned gift for later may consult with our treasurer, David Arnfast.
